Database nonsense/ Technofile Reporters

After years of sporadic Technofile updates online, we ravamped the site and set up an automated system so every day the new one would post. Thanks to some MySQL nonsense, our database locked us out like a drunken stepfather. My sysadmin and I worked for while trying to figure out what the problem was. In the meantime some cranky emails came in from people that were furious the Technofiles were down. It warms the heart to get moody half literate rants from people who have become accustomed to being able to come to the site for the Technofile. We are in the process of getting all of the features loaded in so that they will indeed post each day. This should be completed this weekend.

I've been writing and producing the Technofile for 12 years now. 12 years. We've weathered radio deregulation, the dotcom boom, satellite, and now as radio goes HD and high speed wireless Internet access everywhere is looking to be a possibility, a whole new era is beginning. We are expanding our network of journalists looking to contribute to the Technofile. I used to attend 10 technology conventions a year. Tech conventions are disappearing - and indeed the best stories come from individual events and interviews in cities around the globe. Traveling to those cities for one story isn't feasible - however working with people to get those stories is. If you have a journalism/tech background and would like to be in our network of Technofile reporters email me with your info. People with access to voiceover and recording facilities a plus.

RIP

RIP Kurt Vonnegut

RIP Don Imus

RIP gigs of email the Bush administration says got erased while sending through RNC servers so they wouldn't be on record, including all email correspondence of Karl Rove prior to 2005.

Oops

What a week.

Internets, a lost love, background searches

The Technofile page is having some technological issues at the moment. The software that was serving up the files each day has crashed and my two friends who care about databases, backend integration and apache servers are furiously trying to get it sorted out.

I'm in a bit of mourning as I lost a very good friend of mine. She was very precious to me. We got together every Sunday from 9-10pm. Sopranos, you are dead to me.

That episode Sunday night was an EMBARRASSMENT. Holy midlife crisis on a stick. If i wanted to see fat people overeat, waddle around and sing karaoke I'd move to Alabama. This show should have ended 2 years ago. They take 18 months off between seasons like they're making Lord of the Rings or something. Dude - make the show. Don't take years off to gush to the press about how incredible you are. The Sopranos was slated to end seasons ago, but they kept extending it out of greed rather than artistic longevity.

Also, for some reason i've been getting loads of email recently asking about background searches and spying on people online. I guess if the government can do it, people figure they should be able to play secret agent man as well. Remember - sitting across the street in your car spying on your spouse is a good way to end a relationship really quickly. And be careful about Internet background searches. Some of the sites are bogus.

Three hours goes fast

The Lazlow Show crew got together tonight for what turned out to be a great show. Episode 28 was a lot of fun. Opie and Anthony kindly gave us a weekend slot on their XM channel and we had a blast. mp3s will be posted soon. Thanks to producer Danny for putting together the weekends and taking such great care of us.

On the train ride home Wayne and I had several slices of pizza from Penn Station that he proceeded to shove into his face and drip grease all over. He nearly got into it with a Harry Potter lookalike who didn't seem to appreciate his overexcited post-show demeanor. Couzin Ed called in from his train ride home to Philly and got into a mad poker game with some drunks and an admitted crackhead. It's odd the people you meet on trains - though it makes sense once you realize that the majority of people taking public transit lost their driving privileges due to substance abuse.

Thanks to all the fans who email in praise from around the world. some subscribe to the XM online feed and stay up till 5am to listen. We do a show only once every couple of months and it's great to get the messages of support. Thanks all.
